Thinking about a suitable subject for a trial of the free Paper by FiftyThree app I settled on a zebra study.
Step one was to create a pencil sketch, as below. I found the pencil tool to be pretty realistic, and superior to similar brushes offered in the Procreate app, in the way it handled stylus pressure and tilt.
Step two was to create an atmospheric background using the watercolour brush. In this case missed the sort of control I'd enjoyed with Procreate brushes, resorting to finger smudging to achieve the effect I had in mind.
